Joyfully Embracing Our Mission
St. Clare School Family News | 22 December 2019
Come! Live in the Light!
You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.
~ Matthew 5:13-16
Dear St. Clare School Families,
And finally, the last Sunday of our preparation is here. We light the last purple Sunday of our Advent wreath and anticipate that in a few days, Christ our Savior is born!
We are reminded of the choices Joseph and Mary have had to make in spite of potential public shame. They had to trust in the message delivered to them by the Angel Gabriel and humble themselves in order to fulfill God’s plan. Imagine if they let pride and self-preservation get in their way. What if they said, “No, thanks!”?
The song “Mary, did you know?” poses an interesting question to this end. Did she know? She had not guarantees except that she trusted the message and humbled herself to bring us LOVE personified.
On Thursday, at our Advent Program, our students trusted their teachers and our teachers trusted that that their preparation will amount to something that will bring so much joy to remind us all that we are surrounded by love.
May all your troubles fall away and may you gain the perspective that the things that make you angry or sad or worry do not need to find a home in your heart. Practice humility and trust in God’s goodness and all will be well.
A very Merry Christmas and New Year full of joy to your families!
Mrs. Cecile Mantecon, Principal
Christmas Eve Family Mass | 4 P.M. Tuesday, December 24
You are all invited to the St. Clare Christmas Eve Family Mass at 4 P.M. on Tuesday, December 24.
Here are a couple of ways your children may take part in the celebration:
PROCESSION
Before mass begins, an announcement, as part of the welcome, will be made inviting all children (just as they are invited to encircle the altar for the Our Father), to come to the vestibule to process in towards the “manger”.
Before the Gathering Song and while the church is preparing for worship, the choir, under Chris Wemp’s direction, will sing prelude songs that anticipate the birth of Jesus.
At the procession, children who gathered in the vestibule will process in after the cross and candles and EMs. They will take their places to the left and right of the manger and turn to watch Fr. Tad process Baby Jesus and place him on the manger. Once ministers bow, children will return to their seats.
Please look for Sr. Ann Marie and Ms. Cherell and they can instruct on your children on where to stand as we wait for the Procession to begin.
CHOIR CAROLING
Join Chris and Claire Wemp and the Family Mass Choir sing Christmas Carols before Mass. This commitment requires practice starting at 2:30 P.M. Please see the post and RSVP here:
